After the run, we walked over to the King Kam hotel to get our VIP access wristbands while the girls entertained themselves with the fishes in the lobby.

After that, Daddy and I swam part of the swim course together (which, for me, was a pseudo-snorkeling trip, just at a much faster pace), before he took a trip to Hawi to test out the dreaded wind on that part of the bike course. Meanwhile, the rest of us inadvertently spent the rest of the day in town. First, we scoped out the merchandise tent and waited in the very long time not once but three times. (Don't ask.) Then, we wandered over to the race expo where we found Chris McCormack, the two-time Ironman world champion, signing copies of his book, so of course I had to stand in line for that and get a chance to meet him myself too. (James actually already met him at an awards dinner months ago, so Macca was able to personalize his message a little bit.)
Then we had to search the town for Christmas ornaments to continue a tradition we have, but apparently Christmas isn't big down here. (Who knew?!) Anyway, by the time we finished, we were starving and had to find a place to eat. While we were waiting for our lunch, we watched innocent pedestrians getting splashed by the waves crashing into the sea wall off the swim course, yet when we purposefully tried it ourselves, we didn't get hit with a single drop. Go figure!
Even with all the running back and forth, stuck in my swimsuit all day, I still thought it was a great day. I mean, we're in Kona, how could it not be great?
