Sheesh! Another Birthday?
This time, for her Grandfather/Pop-Pop/El Capitan, whose name is still to be determined. We're just waiting to see what Emily decides to call him!

She's such a fashionista -- check out her vintage dress (from when Aunt Erin was a baby) and pink Converse. She loved the shoes, even if they did make her crawl a little funny.

Emily Loves Her Mommy and Daddy
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Happy Birthday, Daddy!
Emily has two things to show off to make this day extra special for Daddy: her Lake Placid onesie (yes, that's a picture of Mommy and Daddy) and her new clapping skills!

One Potato, Two Potato...
...sweet potato fries!
Lunch means finger food time in our house, and today Emily had sweet potato fries (one of Daddy's favorites) for the first time. Clearly she's her father's daughter, from how much she loved them -- don't let that face fool you! -- to the mess she made with them. Watch her in action:

Fun at the Zoo
...and at the museum too!
After the race, we first took Emily to the Museum of Natural History, where she learned about dinosaurs and fossils and saw a photography exhibit. She even took a dive with some penguins! We also saw a great photo of three orcas off Vancouver Island, and it was so much better than any we were able to take during our whale watching excursion.

After the museum, we went to the National Zoo. Emily just figured out how to point yesterday, so she was eager to show off her new skill as much as possible -- and we have many more pictures to prove it. She had a blast and loved seeing all the animals.

It was a great little trip and a nice way to spend what may have been the last burst of summer. Bring on the fall weather!

Tri, Tri Again
James did the Nation's Triathlon in DC today and ended up with a great finish: 6th in his age group and 87th overall. It was a lot of fun to watch the race, and it brought back memories about our trip to DC last year for the Marine Corps Marathon, when I was 8 months pregnant. It's strange, because when we look back on that trip, it feels like Emily was already with us, so it was neat to see everything again with her. You can tell she enjoyed herself, too:

Shake It, Emmy!
Emily loves showing off her latest dance moves:

Clearly she gets it from her father.

One Stair, One Shot
Emily's latest trick is climbing the stairs, so we have to watch out! She can make it up one stair pretty well, but she falls on her bottom when she goes for the second one.
She had her nine-month check-up today, and I'm guessing she was pretty happy that she made it out of there with only one shot...
