A Few Quick Stops

There are several scenic overlooks on the drive from Honolulu to our house in Waimanalo Beach, and I didn't want to miss a chance to see them for ourselves. Thankfully, Mom-Mom agreed to watch the girls so James and I could go explore on our own for a bit. The best stop, by far, was Halona Beach Cove, home not only to a beautiful little beach but also the Halona Blowhole.

After making the easy hike down to the beach, we climbed up the lava rock to get a better view of the blowhole, formed by molten lava tubes that extend to the ocean and act like a geyser when the surf is strong.

You better watch out...it's the Halona Blowhole!

From the blowhole, we had views of Sandy Beach, nicknamed Breakneck Beach. After taking it all in, we hiked back up and made a couple more stops along the scenic drive back to the house.

I hope we get a chance to hike the trail to that lighthouse before we leave, but for now, we have to get back to the house and our girls!
