A Backyard Birthday

Today Daddy took the girls down to celebrate cousin Madelyn's birthday while I stayed home to take advantage of the quiet time and get packing for our trip. I'm like a little kid in that I hate to miss anything fun with the girls, but Daddy promised to take lots of pictures so I wouldn't feel like I missed it all. Before they left, though, I gave Emily a new 'do, and when I asked her to look in the mirror and tell me what she thought, she gave a quick glance a proclaimed, "I love it!" Of course I always think both my girls look gorgeous!

At the party, the big draws were the bounce castle and balloon artist, but as usual with kids, my girls really just had fun exploring other kids' toys, including what the cousins call their "rollercoaster."

Apparently and unfortunately, the rollercoaster was where Emily suffered her second bee sting, and now she probably be forever traumatized by rollercoasters as she is by California, the site of her first bee sting. But before that happened, all the kids seemed to have fun on that simplest of things, the swingset, and the girls managed to make a few new friends, too.

Of course, their favorite friends there had to be Grandmom and Grandpop (with Aidan in a close second, for sure)! Happy Birthday, Maddie!
