Snowflakes Falling

We made another snow-inspired craft today instead of venturing out ourselves. We made snowflakes using cupcake and coffee liners, which Emily helped me fold into triangles and then cut using her new scissors.





After we cut out all of our snowflakes, Emily used her watercolor paints to paint the coffee liner snowflakes. I tried to show her how to splatter the paint but she just wanted to paint! She also got a kick out of how the paint made the water change colors.




Meanwhile, Kate set up shop right under the table, which is just as well that she didn't try to knock over the paint water cup!



After we finished painting the coffee liner snowflakes, Emily drizzled glue on the cupcake liner snowflakes and then sprinkled them with glitter.




Once they were dry, Mom-Mom helped Emily hang them over the kitchen window so now we have snow inside and out!



Oh, and because the snowflakes apparently weren't enough for her, she asked to make another craft as soon as we finished. I quickly cut a Christmas tree out of construction paper and then let her decorate with sticky foam ornaments. Go figure that something so simple was finally enough for her today!

Inside Snowman

...or how to make a snowman when you're all too sick to go outside! Emily has been begging to make a snowman ever since it started snowing yesterday, and when she wouldn't take no for an answer, Daddy suggested we make a snowman craft instead so that's exactly what we did.



She had a laugh moving the carrot nose when I told her she didn't leave enough room for his mouth. She stuck it right under his hat!




Who needs snow to make a snowman?! Turns out construction paper and sticky foam is enough to keep our girl happy!

One More Stop

It's our last Christmas stop for dinner at Mom-Mom and Poppy's! The girls checked out their tree -- or maybe it was the presents -- and Kate found a Santa just her size.



As usual, Emily refused any pictures and even got Mom-Mom on her side, but I managed to trick them and get two big smiles!




After dinner, the long day had taken its toll on me and Kate, but I was rejuvenated by Emily, our last round of presents, and a game of Balderdash which was fun despite the fact that I was terrible at it!








Meanwhile, poor sick baby Kate slept through it all. Three hours she slept, first on my shoulder and then my lap, barely stirring at all.


After such a fun, busy day, we all could use a good rest!

Jammies and Dresses

After a second breakfast at Mimi and Pop-Pop's, with the girls still in their pajamas, it was time for more presents! Our musical Christmas -- with the drum for Kate and the keyboard, microphone, and recorder for Emmy from Santa -- continued with bongos from Uncle Richie and Auntie D. Uncle Richie was happy to show her how it's done!






She also got right into coloring with her kitty crayons and coloring book from Aunt Erin and Uncle John. After that I was too busy with sick baby Kate to catch her with all of the other great gifts, so it's a good thing I had Emmy there to help me open my own gifts!



Later Kate got a burst of energy with Aunt Erin, and then we all had a laugh when Uncle John tried on his too-short pants. Whoops!





Pop-Pop fared a little better with his gift for Mimi: a new beach cruiser!



With our second batch of presents all opened, the girls got dressed in their last set of Christmas dresses. As the rest of the family got ready to go to the shore, Uncle Richie got to spend some time with the girls as they showed off their cute little tushes.






Now we're off to Mom-Mom and Poppy's for the last stop on this Christmas train!
