A Playground Kind of Birthday

Apparently the nice thing about April birthdays is that the weather is often springy enough for a day spent at the playground, which is what we did last year on Kate's birthday and what we happened to do again this year.

Today we met up with the girls from Emily's class and ventured to a playground a little farther from home. After everyone else left (because, as usual, we were the last to leave the party), we walked the trail down to the pond to see the geese.

As happened this morning, Emily was a lot more cooperative than Kate when it came to taking pictures and even wanted to take some pictures of the geese herself.

She got a kick out of walking so close to the geese, but rest assured, I made sure we all were careful not to get too close. (I've heard stories about how angry those geese can be!) Both girls were pretty good at dodging the goose droppings along the trail, I might add. We wound our way through the geese and around the pond and found some cherry blossoms, and Emmy thought they were just the prettiest little blossoms she'd ever seen and was happy to share the ones she found with Kate.

Another year older, another fun day spent at the playground!
