Summertime Party

Today Emily was invited to a party for her friend Lauren from school, and watching the kids play outside made me a little envious that my girls don't have summer birthdays! The kids had lots of fun running around the yard, playing on the swingset and in the playhouse, and having tea at the play table.

The most fun part of all, though, was the trampoline. Emily has actually been talking about playing on a trampoline ever since she saw one at the house across the street from the playground, and today she finally got her wish and took full advantage of it. She was a little wary when there were too many kids on it, but once Lauren's older sisters suggested playing ring-around-the-rosie, it became the more, the merrier!

After the trampoline, Emily's next favorite part was -- surprise! -- the cake. It didn't hurt that she ended up with a corner piece which meant she had extra icing, so much so that she didn't even finish the actual cake!

As if the cake weren't enough of a treat, they also had a piƱata, and Emily pulled the lucky string! Unlike at her own birthday, she wasn't at all timid trying to grab as much candy as possible.

We ended the party with a class picture. It's not easy getting 11 kids (including a bonus friend) to smile at once but they sure did enjoy making funny faces!
